Kazakhstan together with Uzbekistan will create a center of industrial cooperation

An international center of industrial cooperation "Central Asia" will appear on the border of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Acsour experts studied the objectives of building the center and told the key features of cooperation between the two countries in the framework of the project.

The President of Kazakhstan signed the Law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on regulation of the activities of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia".

The center will include two parts:

  • Kazakhstan
  • Uzbek

According to the state affiliation, each part of the center will be subject to the legislation of Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan.

On the part of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Trade and Integration will manage the Center, and on the part of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.

The center will be located on the border territories of both states, on both sides of the state border. Its total area will be 1 square kilometer, divided equally between the Kazakh and Uzbek parts (0.5 square kilometers each).

The technical launch of the international industrial cooperation center is scheduled for the end of 2026, and the opening is scheduled for the beginning of 2027.

The main objectives of the Center include:

  • formation of favorable conditions for the development of interstate cooperation ties;
  • integration of small and medium-sized industrial enterprises of both countries into global value chains.

It is also expected that the center will speed up cargo delivery, reduce logistics costs, increase the capacity of railway infrastructure by 20 million tons per year and help increase trade turnover to $ 10 billion.
