Starting August 25, 2026, the rules for transferring alimony payments in Kazakhstan have changed. Now, funds under enforcement documents must be credited exclusively to a special bank account of the recipient. Regular accounts and bank cards are no longer suitable for these purposes.
The changes were introduced by Law No. 325-VIII of June 24, 2026, which amended the Law "On Enforcement Proceedings and the Status of Court Bailiffs" with a new article. The primary goal of the new rules is to protect funds intended for the maintenance of children and disabled persons from seizure and write-off against other debts of the recipient.
What Changes for Employers and Accountants
The procedure for deducting alimony from wages remains the same. Employers, as before, deduct alimony based on a writ of execution and transfer it to the recipient. However, payments must now be made to a special bank account, the details of which are provided by the court bailiff.
Employers receive the new payment details not from the recipient themselves, but from the court bailiff handling the case. The special alimony account must be opened by the recipient. If the recipient fails to do so and does not provide the details to the court bailiff, the transfer of funds becomes impossible.
However, the absence of a special account does not relieve the payer of the obligation to pay alimony. The debt continues to accumulate, but the court bailiff cannot transfer the funds until the account details are received.
Money held in the special alimony account is protected from seizure for other obligations of the recipient. This ensures that the funds are used strictly for their intended purpose — supporting a child or a disabled person.

To avoid delays and potential claims, companies are advised to review incoming enforcement documents to ensure they specify the special bank account. If documents contain old payment details, employers should contact the court bailiff to obtain the updated information.
Employees who have alimony deducted from their wages should be informed that opening the special account is the responsibility of the recipient, not the payer. It is also important to remember that the new rules took effect on August 25, 2026, and transfers to regular accounts after this date will not be accepted.
